This Week in Hong Kong Disneyland

This Week in HKDL

Alternative CranesA festive week in the park saw Christmas break out all over the place, random nudity and a peek show from a different angle of the current construction. If that hasn't got you interested, then we've also got photos and a promise of things to come for the park...not to mention HKDL Source!

News Update & Commentary - Update for December 4 to December 10

Well folks, December is upon us and so is the Silly Season. Some of us seem to be getting a little sillier than others.

On Saturday evening in the park, a young woman and some photographers were reportedly escorted from the park. The woman was said to be ‘indecently dressed’, with the photographers shooting her in various poses in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle. Naturally, Disney has remained silent about the incident, but the incident was reportedly visible to a number of patrons, including our own spy.

However, this wasn’t enough to dampen the festive spirit in the park. Despite Main Street being the only land ‘done up’ for Christmas, the Fun for Kids Zone has moved to Adventureland. Kids are singing Christmas Carols on Sundays, although there is some debate as to whether “Skip to My Lou” is a traditional Christmas Carol. When it comes to Christmas in Disneyland, it seems that anything goes!

Perhaps due to all this Festive Christmassy fun, the park appears to be packed. While we have nothing resembling official numbers of visitors, spies report that lines for Fantasyland rides could be as long as 30 minutes – even for the Carousel! Combine this with a packed Festival of the Lion King, and a crowd that made The Golden Mickeys something to avoid, you’ve got yourself one crowded park over the weekend. With a few weeks still to go until Christmas, we can only imagine that things are going to get busier before they slack off. Given the troubled times Hong Kong Disneyland has allegedly had in trying to attract large numbers of guests over the last 15 months, this is incredibly good news for the bean counters. Maybe it is just the time to buy a loved one a new Annual Pass Gift.

The other big news – aside from the installation of Cotton Candy Machines that we are told produce a ‘very sugary’ product – is naturally to do with the ongoing construction in Fantasyland. One of our other spies in the park, who is only known to us as WM L, has managed to take a few snaps of the construction from an alternate angle. Snapping the construction from Magic Way, along the strip of road giving access to the hotels and Inspiration Lake, we don’t really see any more of the forthcoming attraction – long rumoured to be the classic “It’s A Small World” – but it does provide us with an alternate look.

Another look at the cranes.

In other news, the Official Website has updated a little bit, with full Annual Pass Blockout days listed on the Calendar, along with a few new special offers (the latter of which we have listed below).

Until next week, behave yourselves in the park, and by that we mean keep your clothes on. It helps when buying insane amounts of Disney gifts for your loved ones. Don't forget to keep coming back here to HKDL Source, where we hope to have our gallery launched within the next week.

Current Closures/Refurbishments

  • The Disneyland Story (Main Street) replaced November 11 to December 31? While it is currently closed as an historical exhibit, it is presently being used to house Santa's Corner for the duration of the Christmas Festivities.
  • Fantasyland: No closures in Fantasyland, but there are three cranes hovering over the land, casting a shadow of speculation. Most now suspect this has to do with It’s A Small World construction.
