While Australia celebrated its national holiday, Hong Kong Disneyland celebrated the start of the Year of the Ox with a celebration in the streets. The party doesn't stop there!
NB: Disney released this press release, and we are but humble reporters.
To celebrate an auspicious start to the Year of the Ox, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts President and Managing Director, Asia, Bill Ernest, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Managing Director Andrew Kam, dressed in traditional Chinese jackets, joined Mickey Mouse and Disney Friends to send blessings to Guests and the people of Hong Kong. Kicking off the event, Kam dotted the lions’ eyes in the special Chinese New Year performance, “Celebration in the Street”.
“I am delighted to celebrate this happy and memorable Chinese New Year with Guests from all over the world here in our Resort,” he said. “Hong Kong Disneyland Resort deeply values Chinese traditions and we have prepared a series of special events for our ‘Mickey Celebrates the Year of the Ox’ celebrations. I am sure that both our Guests and Cast Members will enjoy their Chinese New Year here.”
“Mickey Celebrates the Year of the Ox” is from January 16 to February 8, 2009. Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has designated the period between January 26 and February 1 as Special Days. During this period, Park operating hours will be extended to 9a.m. – 8 p.m. As Special Days tickets are required for admission during this period, the Resort encourages Guests to purchase their tickets in advance.
