Year of the Mouse Announced

Story

Park Update

CNY08It's not even 2008 yet, and we are already getting information about the Chinese New Year festivities. It's the Year of the Mouse in 2008, and there is just no way that Hong Kong Disneyland is going to let that slide without putting on a show.

According to Hong Kong Disneyland's Official Year of the Mouse Celebration page, the Resort will be celebrating Chinese New Year with a Twist between January 22 and February 24 next year. This will include a number of new attractions and events designed specifically for the event, and seems to be part of the seasonal push aimed at attracting younger audiences to the park.

Some of the features this year will include:

  • A Concert Tour - Asia's "most popular" music with classic Disney characters dancing along in costume
  • Rhytmn of Life: Dragon Procession -  From February 7, birds; fish; flowers and other elements of the land and sea will merge together to form a dragon!
  • Mickey's Home - Mickey will take you through his place and show you his never-before-seen collection of stuff!
  • Catwalk Show by Vivienne Tam - Mickey and pals will strut their stuff in these new outfits designed by the world-renowed fashion designer. (More on Vivienne Tam)
  • Meet Characters in Costume - The Disney gang will be in traditional costume and all throughout the park. Don't miss this opportunity to meet them!
  • Eight Statute of Mickey - Strategically placed around the park to bring good luck, these celebrity-designed statues will help decorate the park this Year of the Mouse
  • Meet Characters in Costume - The Disney gang will be in traditional costume and all throughout the park. Don't miss this opportunity to meet them!
  • Meet the Gods - The gods of Fortune, Properity, Happiness and Longevity will all be making an appearance. Be sure to meet them all!

Plus, the park will be decorated with a whimsical mix of traditional Chinese and Disney iconography! Sounds like a terrific festival!
