Just when you thought that Pirate mania had to stop, Disney unleases some new high-class Disney merchandise for the more discerning pirate. One of the few press releases we are likely to publish featuring the word 'obsidian'.
PRESS: Hong Kong Disneyland’s Pirate Takeover has unearthed much more than a rowdy crew of pirates as a treasure chest filled with 300 limited edition pin sets and 1,000 crystal watches was discovered near the Jungle River today.
“We knew the pirates had treasure hidden all over ‘Pirateland’ but we didn't realize how much there really was! The expertly crafted pin sets and crystal watches will extend the pirate magic, allowing our guests to bring home an exclusive part of the Pirate Takeover experience,” said Phyllis Wong, Director of Merchandise, Hong Kong Disneyland.
Featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and the official Hong Kong Disneyland crest, the 300 limited edition pin sets are aptly named “Pirates of the Caribbean – Mickey Family”. As with all treasure hoarders, the pirates boxed all 300 pin sets in an elaborately decorated, time worn treasure chest, each with its own lock. Inside, all four pins are displayed on a cushion of black velvet waiting to be admired and coveted. Priced at HK$195 this “steal” will allow guests to continue their Pirate Takeover experience at home.
The second item the Disney pirates attempted to bury was “Pirate Mickey” limited edition crystal watches. Obsidian black in color, the only contrast is the pure white crystals that form the shape of a Cross Bones Mickey Mouse which is set into the watch face. The black and silver plush box and cover only serves to compliment the invaluable watch as it rests in a velvety interior. Priced at HK$980 and limited to 1,000 pieces this “Pirate Mickey” crystal watch is a must buy for all pirate fans.
“Pirates of the Caribbean – Mickey Family” limited edition pin sets and “Pirate Mickey” crystal watches will be available for sale starting May 22, 2007. Guest can get these limited items at Town Square Photo on Main Street U.S.A.; Professor Porter’s Trading Post in Pirateland, Kingdom Gifts at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and Celebrity Gifts at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel.
The “Pirate Mickey” crystal watches will also be available at the Emporium Store on Main Street U.S.A. and the Disney Shop at Hong Kong International Airport’s Departures East Hall at Terminal 1 for a last chance pirate keepsake.
During Pirate Takeover, Annual Pass Holders will be able to make use of their Passes and indulge in the pirate fun as often as they wish. Starting June 6, Annual Pass Holders can also log onto www.hongkongdisneyland.com to check out the latest benefits for this summer (from July 1, 2007 to August 31, 2007).
