Despite conflicting reports and the majority reporting that this year was much quieter and surprisingly emptier in the park than the previous Chinese New Year, Disney are (naturally) chalking this one up as getting "great responses". No arguments here, but here is the official word from Disney.
(PRESS RELEASE 20 February, 2007) The Hong Kong Disneyland Resort received great responses from Guests during the third day of its Chinese New Year celebration.
Some of the thousands of Guests who visited the Park today included more than 10 enthusiastic Annual Passholders who dressed in colorful traditional Chinese costumes with pin-trading lanyards, sent their best wishes to every Cast Member in the Park.
According to Nichola Mak, one of the Annual Passholders who took pictures of many Hong Kong Disneyland Cast Members throughout the past year, “We would like to thank every Cast Member for their dedicated efforts in bringing happiness to everyone during the Chinese New Year. I am very glad today to celebrate a wonderful Chinese New Year here in the Park with a group of my friends who share the same passion with me for Hong Kong Disneyland.’

During the third day of Chinese New Year, Mak and his friends presented a special souvenir photo collage to Hong Kong Disneyland Cast Members. The collage contains hundreds of photos of Cast Members who have created special memories for them during their many visits.
Dave Vermeulen, Vice President of Operations, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort said, ‘I am honored to receive this special gift from our enthusiastic Annual Passholders on behalf of our 5000 cast members. The collage filled with the happy faces of the Cast Members which represented the friendship established between our Cast and Guest. We will continue our work to bring more magical moments to our Guests.’

The Hong Kong Disneyland Chinese New Year Special Day period began on February 17 and will continue through February 24. Hong Kong Disneyland encourages Guests who are planning to visit during these days to purchase a Special Day ticket in advance. Special Day Tickets for February 20 to 22 (Today to Thursday) are selling out quickly. Guests who have not yet purchased their tickets should consider visiting on other dates during that week. Park opening hours will be extended during this period from 9 am to 9 pm.
