Park Update

Chinese New YearTomorrow marks the official launch of the Year of the Pig celebrations in Hong Kong Disneyland, and Disney has sent over this press release with plenty of pictures of the kinds of food and goodies that can be found in and around the park.

PRESS RELEASE (February 1, 2007) In celebration of the Year of the Pig, Hong Kong Disneyland has invited The Three Little Pigs to meet with guests for the first time in Hong Kong as the Resort presents the fun and exciting activities of Disney’s Chinese New Year from February 2 to March 4, 2007.

The Park will be decked out with Chinese New Year decorations featuring the lucky colors of red and gold, lucky Hui Chun greetings, bright red fire crackers, peach blossom trees and Chinese flowers. Guests can also take photos with Disney characters in specially tailored Chinese New Year outfits exclusive to Hong Kong Disneyland and The Three Little Pigs. They defeated The Big Bad Wolf in Walt Disney’s 1930’s hit feature animation “Three Little Pigs”.

The God of Fortune will also visit the Park from the first day of the Lunar Year to bring good luck to guests.

The much anticipated “Come and Celebrate” stage show will be performed in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle every day at 7pm, featuring Disney characters in traditional Chinese New Year outfits.

Mickey Mouse will lead a cast of dancers and Disney Stars in the high energy stage show that will begin with a vibrant musical performance complete with fan dancers, parasols and colorful silk banners.

Lucky guests will be invited on stage to take part in the eye dotting ceremony to help awaken the lions, which will perform a traditional lion dance to rousing drums and cymbals. The lucky guests will receive one complimentary night’s stay at the luxurious Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel as a special gift.

Dramatic lighting and special effects on Sleeping Beauty Castle will dazzle and thrill the audience as the fun continues when Donald Duck and Daisy Duck make a surprise appearance in their brand new Chinese New Year costumes.

And as the grand finale, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and the entire Disney ensemble will dance against a backdrop of brilliant pyrotechnics that illuminates the night sky.
